I see many sites implement this graphic line technique with dark edges etc does anybody know how to create this so the lines are even without having to do every individual line.
Cheers any help is appreciated .
See image attached.
It's a light-green square gradient (going top-to-bottom) with an inner shadow blending option applied; the slanted lines are done using a 5px-wide pattern.

Ill give it a try thanks again for your help Jona.
5px wide but how high?
Let me help a little more by explaining how to create a pattern like this.
Create a new document with a width/height of 5px and a transparent background. Zoom in all the way - 1600% - and select the Pencil tool. Click in the bottom-left corner to the top-right corner one pixel at a time. Make sure the line is straight. Then go to Edit -> Define Pattern, and name your pattern. Then go to the blending effects of the layer you want to edit, and click the "Patterns" area. In the dropdown list, at the very end, should be the pattern you just created. You can also use the paint bucket tool with this pattern.
