On my windows machine, when I go to a page with flash on it, the flash part just doesnt show up at all. It doesnt ask me to install the flash player which I have done multiple times but just shoes nothing where the flash would be. Any ideas?

Yeah I get the same on Linux. I just ignore it though. I think flash looks cheap and tacky and I noticed that the thing I see it used for mostly now is adverts (which I obviously am not going to miss). Plus if any site doesn't have an html alternative, the chances are it's not gonna be worth looking at. (in my opinion anyway).

You can't disable what you can't install.

Hi,
I faced the same problem a couple of months ago. It was because that the flash movie in the site is made from Flash MX and the Flash player that i have installed is the older version. My problem solved when i install a new version. So try installing a new version (The latest version now is flash player 7.0).

Isnt that because firefox uses a different flash plugin.

Would it be too much to reinstall FireFox?
Then access the page it should ask you to install the plugin. Carry on from there.
