no offense, but i dont think you will find a job that requires just vb or js programming, if you mean java as you mentioned then yes, but not sure what you meant as you appear to not be english, i take it you know (X)HTML and CSS aswell, try getting into server programming eg .NET, PHP, ASP, JSP, CGI/Perl

With regards to using Visual Basic ... you can get a good job as a programmer of VB - you just need to know how to manipulate databases and so forth.

Generally speaking, yes. But does it mean that VB alone isn't enough, of course not,

i see what you are saying steelers, my bad, either stick with VB and make sure you know about the database bit and that like he said, or go for server side like i suggested
i might go for a Certification in Databases / Network administration. If i go with Networks, then i can start with MCSE and follow it up with Cisco certiification. Under Databases, i can opt for MS SQL / Oracle. Oracle is a bit tough to crack. MS SQL should be simple though. Does this sound like a good way to go?

If you know vb and want to rake in cash in web development I suggest upgrading you vb knowledge to vb.net and learning asp.net The learning curve is not that great. If you know a server side language you can get into web development. Since asp.net is primarily run on windows servers you can still use vb6 experience to make executable server applications that run with your server side asp.net scrips.

Its imperative that you upgrade your knowledge to .NET. Its going to be very hard to find a company who still use vb 5 or 6.
i know .net but not asp.net...guess ill have to start reading up on that. thanks for all help guys...if you have any other suggestions keep them coming.
whats the best place to get certified at if i went web development? brainbench, cisco, oracle, microsoft??
