hi,
a lot of what you have said is true, but I would like to add to the keywords part.
The more keywords the search engines locate the higher your site will rank….period.
The above is not strictly true. Your example "search engines" would in fact rank low. You fail to mention the difference between good and bad keywords. Say I had a page that has the keywords "search engines" on it, but 1000 times. That wouldn't get me a high ranking that would get my site band.
If you have 15-20 keywords one was "search engines" if a search is then done on "search engines" then I would get a 1/15 - 1/20 towards my overall page ranking. If say 10,000 web sites have the same keyword "search engines" then I would get only a small percentage to my over all total page ranking. Having 100 keywords would again only yield a very small percentage of your overall page rank; each word would only give you 1/100 of a percentage.
A good and bad keyword depends on; 1) How many times it has been searched on, 2) How many sites have the same keyword.
You would get a very low percentage to your over all page rank with "search engines" as a keyword.
Another factor is the Keyword placement. If for example 2 sites both had "search engines" site 1 has this placed first in their tag and site 2 had it placed at say 4th. Then site 1 would score more towards their page rank than site 2.
A good site |I use to find out what is a good keyword and what is a bad keyword is:
http://www.wordtracker.com/
This is free but limited and you have the option to pay per day for full version.
You mentioned about outbound and inward bound links. Just to add to that, if the page you link to has a low page ranking then you will get a very small percentage towards your page, on the other hand if the linked page has a high ranking then your page will get a higher percentage.
Abusing Keywords in your page will get you a lower ranking and not the other way about. I know of a business that was temporarily band from Goggle because their web developer decided to miss use keywords by hiding them under layers with images. This is a bad idea to litter your page with too many keywords, but I understand what you are saying and I do agree fully with making your keywords appear often in your pages text.
