I'm dealing with a client right now who needs a simple solution: the ability to put in credit card numbers, names, and expirations to charge people's accounts.

There is NO NEED for shopping carts or "Buy Now" buttons -- this will all be done through a page that isn't viewable by the public. The idea is, they get the people to agree to buy over the phone or whatever.

The items (passes, actually,) will be $2,495. I know PayPal has an issue with charging this to first-time members, but I'm not sure if they even have the capability of running a card-processing machine that I'm talking about; it looks like they need the actual user accounts to buy the stuff, not just have a company guy run the numbers.

Who can provide the solution they need (and at the lowest commission), and any tips for an e-commerce noob?

Hi,

who needs a simple solution

There is no simple solution to what you are trying to achieve.

Who can provide the solution they need (and at the lowest commission), and any tips for an e-commerce noob?

1)I would possibly be able to provide a solution but it would not be at a low commission.
2)This type of application is more B2B.
3)Will be very difficult almost impossible for a noob.

You mention that it is strictly phone sales and its your client who enters details into an application that can connect to credit-card servers.
What you would need is a Windows Application built in VB or VB.NET that can exchange data on the backend with the credit-card server.
I would presume that more than one person would be entering sales into the application but through an intranet.
Have a chat to WorldPay technical support they will be able to tell you if it is possible to connect to there server via a Windows Application, i am sure that they will.

I agree with Ribeyed. You need an VB.Net application to be developed.

We can implement it (have some related experince) but it won`t cost very cheap.

How about... not just a "No," but "Hell no" to both of you. Authorize.net offers a simple, cheap, "virtual terminal" that's all we need.

Authorize.net only charges between $10 to $ 40 per month and a 10cent transaction as far as I heard.

This would be the way to go.
