just a question - might sound rather silly but here goes anyway......

say if i type in an address in hotmail and i logout out and everything, and then the next time that i log in (or anytime for that matter); if i start typing in an address and it contains the same letter as a previous address which i have typed in before - it automatically has a pop up menu with all the previous addresses. how do i turn this function off??

If you want to stop it dropping down, that is called autocomplete, go to Tools/Internet Options/Content/AutoComplete and de-select 'Web addresses'. You will still be able to select the drop-down arrow on the right to see previous addresses - If you want to remove these 'History' items (beeen a nuaghty boy?) try
Tools/Internet Options/General and use clear history button. If you dont want it to save future addresses, you can set the field next to thsi button to 0, but I think it will still keep history for the current day.
