Can you search across two different databeses?

I was wondering if you are able to build a search that will search two database, both hosted on the same server, but the databases are different. I think one might be in Access, and one in Lotus notes? Can this be done with SQL like ColdFusion? Help would be appreciated,

I whould think you can do it by just opening up 2 data base connections.
