Hello,

I'm new to this forum and to dev in general, so please forgive me if these questions sound strange.

1. Can I sell a web-based application I wrote in Perl which makes use of libcurl? What are the restrictions? Am I not allowed to distribute the required open source software or freeware with my application, Ex: if my app requires libcurl and mysql, am i not allowed to bundle those applications with my software?

2. Does anyone know a good source for a template I could use to declare an invention in the proprietary info agreement I'm signing for my new job? I want to make sure I retain the rights to the tools I have developed on my own time.

Thanks for any info you can provide!!!

The selling of Open Sourced software is not something I claim to know a lot about... However I do know this... Companies like Corel and Redhat would not be in business today if they were not able to make a profit from a program like Linux.

In addition to what Compguypete said, the new Mac OSX "Panther" operating system has a UNIX base. Isn't UNIX open source?
