Script for defining software to open link with

Does anyone know if there is a script available that can define which software opens up a link? I.e. I have a powerpoint template file (.pot) which I am linking to. I would like for the link to open in Powerpoint and not explorer - can I do that? IE 6 browser. My development team says that I can't but am am 99% sure I can. Cheers Jeske :confused:

No, that's a browser/desktop configuration issue and happens at a global level.

Well yeh it can kinda be done, google for MIME types. There isn't any way it can be done for native file formats like that though.
