i don't know much about my box, except for the following story:

so........my college had a casino night (long story short: incompetent dealer, i stole lots of money:p) and i won a DVD player. well, since i have a DVD player on ma computer and my roommate has a PS2, i don't need a DVD player. i was going to give it to my mom for christmas, but when i came home for thanksgiving, she sent me shopping for a DVD/VCR for my dad, so that wouldn't work. so i ended up taking it back to Best Buy. it just so happened that at the time, Best Buy had a 160 Gb hard drive on sale. so when i returned it, i got a gift card with $70.61 credit on it. the hard drive was $59.99 after rebates. so i made some change there. THEN, the guy that installed it for me asked how much i wanted for the old drive. i said i'd take $20 for it (labor costs, you know). so i ended up getting paid $30 to get a brand new, 160 Gb hard drive with an 8Mb cache.

:D

I use another msi product to get my system specs, it is info view xp. Its nothing special, it is just bundled with my drivers so I use it.

I like this though: CPUz (http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php). It will tell you everything about your processor and then everything else about your pc.

Mazda Miata MX5 shots (http://phill.langstropicalfish.com) They don't really seem to cost me any performance. But anyways You really layered on those vinals didn't you? I think the colors on your car are a little grose (imo), but you are a little further along then me if you have those split hoods unlocked.

PhillMc
12-27-2004, 02:55 PM
Actually, that's a unique hood. It's in the mix of the first uniques you get; you just don't know that it's a split until after you accept it. You don't unlock splits and doors until you make it to Coal Harbor East.

I did go a bit crazy on the vinyls, I know, but you got to do whatever it takes to get the visual rating on your car up; the higher it is, the more you get paid for covers. I've redone the visual setup of the car, I may post new shots later.

12-27-2004, 09:24 PM
I lost my uniques to older cars. Like I had a unique motor, bad ass thing, in my celica, and unique rims and a unique spoiler. I lurved them. But I stopped using that car. I cant unlock coal harbor east. I am stuck on my last url. I come super close to beating it but get passed at the last second etc. It is ticking me off... I have not been able to win this race for 2 days. This is the longest I have taken on one race. I know I can win it, I just get so close. Its not like a drag race where I know I cant win it when I am following far behind everyone else the whole time and all of my shifts are perfect and I fired my n02 early got up to the lead, was passed, drafted for more n02 but still could not catch up!

You know what I do: Whenever I get a new car I go into the main menu and pimp it out with the unlimited money there and see how fast it is going to be, even dyno it a bit. That is how I decide if it is worth my time. I have been using this rx8 for a while because i got its top speed and accelleration higher then the 350z, lancer evo, stang, rx7, etc. I love drag racing with a pimped stang though because it is so easy to get a good shift in those. I have the fastest quarter mile times in a stang. But I don't know if I would drive one in the career. I love the way my customized stang looks though.

Okay, now my car is a lvl 10 car and the top speed is about maxed. I got my stang outside career to the top speed, but its handleing is not nearly as good as my rx8. I did a lot tonight.

PhillMc
12-28-2004, 02:16 PM
Believe it or not, the two best cars that I have used (IMO) have been the 250SX and the MX5. The MX5 is a good 'all-around' car, it's tight handling lets you increase the gap on just about any course, not to mention it's got to be the best car for drifting (Highest single Drift so far: 'Drift King' 112,525). I've never had trouble with any of the URL's using either of those cars. :)

250sx? I thought that was a bike. I think you made a typo *sticks his finger in his mouth like a little person would do to look innocent or something*. 240sx. I would pimp the hell out of this stang, but its handling sucks.

My rx8 actually handles better and accelerates better then a completely decked out 240sx. I have not unlocked the mx5 yet though. All I know is the stang is probably the best car in the game for a drag race (its perfect shift rpm range is rather huge).

My best quarter mile in the thing was 8.2 seconds... which is way faster then a supra. My best time in a supra was about 8.4 (which is also very fast, but the mustang still has it consistantly and I am convinced it is because of the shifting ease.)

PhillMc
12-29-2004, 05:22 AM
I had a 'stang in a previous game; loved the way it looked but I thought the handling was too much of a sacrifice. It tended to sway a bit during drags, which caused me to total quite a few times. lol

PeOfEo
12-29-2004, 05:43 AM
I hate the pull of the supra in a drag, when I start I seem to drive to the left. What is worse is a drag in a TT... man whe you get off the line in a TT you are just launched to the right. I will never use my old TT again.

12-29-2004, 05:56 AM

I refuse to believe that. Those cars (g35 and 240) do not have the best acceleration, my rx8 should outperform them easy. Now I feel compelled to tweak my settings and test mine. I didn't know the mx5 was the miata for a second I thought it was another car. I do not like the miata much.... But anyways, what more is there for unlocks? I unlock a new car every url but I think I have them all now. My last unlock was a skyline I think.

Just so we can put these times in perspective the best I have gotten in a 350z was 8.27

PeOfEo
12-29-2004, 05:48 PM
My best time in a g35 is 8.29... I have all 3 engine ups, all of the trubo, nos, tranny ups, etc. You must be playing with the ecu settings, nos settings, air and turbo settings to get it to do that. I do not have that kind of free time on my hands to tune every car like that.

My best time for a 240 is 8.62

It's not hard to get a time like that, keep the accelerator in the perfect range (the lower you are in the perfect range, the better) as it shifts from Neutral into first. Second will come up really fast, so keep your eyes open. As soon as you hit Second, NOS. Keep the perfect shifts and your time should be great.

... You might be missing something... When installing packages, are you installing in order? (Package 1, then 2, then 3 [NOS and tires are exempt]) or are you just installing 3?? There are parts in 1 and 2 that 3 uses, so if you skip 1 and 2 your performance wont be so great.

PhillMc
12-29-2004, 07:53 PM
Now I'm convinced you're just installing level 3 packages... When you said the 240 didn't have the accel for that, my first thought was "are you nuts??".

I took 2 screen shots, one of a 240 with only level 3 packages installed, and one of a 240 with all of them installed, in order. Have a look. :) If you think I 'doctored' the images, you can try it yourself, you might be surprised just what you kept your car from being able to do... It's easy, just install package 1, then package 2, and finally package 3.:)

Anyways, back to the topic of pc specs, due to my dvd-writer and harddrive acting really slow, i decided to replace my banged up pos psu that I have with horrible rails. I am getting (excited looking at my tracking number at fedex.com) a thermaltake 420 watt silent psu. It has 30a 3.3v rail, a 40a 5v rail, and a 18a 12v rail. Can't wait to try this new baby! And I also bought a vantec fan controller (for 4 fans) that will help me with noise and power problems a lot too. All of my fans are led too, so when I turn down the power to them, they will actually dimm too :D I am thinking of connecting the front led lights on my case to it too. Anyways, more people should publish their specs! Come on, don't be scared!

Thats what I do now, but still, I can get all perfects in that car in be .40 seconds slower then you were. That must have been a luck race. The hardest shift to get correct is the very first one off the line, followed by the second because of the enitial jump do the the burnout.
