If you have an install cd all you do is turn off your computer, then turn it on, go into bios and make sure your cd drive is the first on the boot list (or select cd from the boot list when you boot to boot from the cd) and you will then ideally put the install cd in the drive. Then windows will start, aswk you if you want third party raid drivers... hit no, if you want them later then install them later. Then is is going to bring up a list of partitions... pick the one that is currently your c drive (idealy) then it will go to format it. I suggest quick format to save time. Then it is going to copy the files over, reboot, then begin to install. You do not have to do anything else except for enter a cd key (if you have xp pro) and put in a computer name so on and so fourth. Its not hard... its just a waste of an hour and a half or so.

I'd delete all the partitions first, then make a new partition with all the harddrive space (easiest) and format it under NTSF formatting.

okay thank you for your input. I have two questions about that.

1. What are partitions?
2. Where do i find the NTSF formatting place?

a partition can be thought of as a block, it is a block of data. A partition can take up a whole hard drive or there can be several partitions on a hard drive. Partitions are independent of eachother and will act as separate drives. Infact each partition can have a different file system if you like (but they would also need a separate operating system).

The ntfs format thing will just come up when you select a partition to put windows on. It will say in order to put windows here this needs to be formatted first, and it will give you the options of full and quick format. I suggest quick.
