I wanna play PC games on my comp. BADLY. And when I start a game, my monitor goes all blank, but the computer still works at the same time. It has nothing to do with the monitor, I'm sure, but when I play a PC game, it simply goes blank, and I have to restart the computer. It never did that before either... Anyone know the problem, because I'm sick of it.:(

8500? That is an older card. How much ram is on yours, 32, 64, 128 what? Are you overclocking your system at all? What game are you trying to play? What version of directX are you running? Have you ever played with the bios settings? Also, would you happen to know the cache, core, and bus of your processor?

I have no clue. How could I know?
What game are you trying to play?
Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed, Red Alert, Rogue Spear, my GBA emulator which is at full screen, etc.
What version of directX are you running?
The latest one, I believe.
Have you ever played with the bios settings?
No. How do you do that?
Also, would you happen to know the cache, core, and bus of your processor?
No.

Does it re-start it self or does it just go blank?
Because if it restates it self then, that used to happen to me when I installed SP2..
Just uninstal sp 2 or uninstaall .NET FrameWork 1.1
I suggest you unstillal sp2 tho if ... ok ^^

Nah, it simply goes blank and my monitor light becomes orange. The sound still works, and sometimes when I close the game, it re-appears.

it really sounds like your graphics card is not liking the game resolution.
Try this, set your resolution to 640 x 480 before you start the game, then see what it does.
I fail to see what the .net framework is going to have to do with a game.

if you right-click on the game then click the properties tag there should be a compatibility tag that allows you to automatically run the game in 640x480 etc.

You might want to change it to the resolution you normally use... this should give you better performance (then that if you were running the game at 640 but your res is 1024) because your video card does not have to keep up with two resolutions.
