i'm new to java programming,i've spend 5 years of my carrer working with asp....i'm trying to create a simple connection module that connectes to a database sitting on SQL server.can anyone help

Well, that depends on what you mean. If you mean javascript, no, javascript can not connect to a database. If you meant Java (like you said) then http://forum.java.sun.com/ would probably be a good place to start....
