I'm a newbie and have what I'm guessing is a common error. But I've been searching the web for solutionS the last two days without resolve to my issue...GETTING

Anyway, I recently redesigned my personnal website by deleting my old website and uploading my new website on my web hosting server...HostSave. When from FrontPage to Dreamweaver...and eliminated the FrontPage extension at HostSave before uploading my Dreamweaver files.

The upload was successful as all my website file are in the "web" folder on the server. My homepage is named "index.html" and the DNS servers are correct.....

The HostSave FAQs list the following on their support page, but I believe I've addressed their possible issues....

I just uploaded my site, but I can't view it in a browser. What do I do?

1. Make sure that your first page (homepage) is named:

index.html
index.htm
index.pl
index.cgi
index.shtml
index.php
default.html
default.htm

These file names are listed in the order they will appear if you have more than one file with any of these names.

2. If you do not name your homepage or the default page of a directory using one of the recognized filenames in question 1 above, the user will receive an error page.

3. Make sure that your domain name is completely registered and the DNS information is pointing to HostSave DNS.

Primary DNS:

ns1.hostsave.com

207.150.196.199

Secondary DNS:
ns2.hostsave.com
207.150.197.103

Tertiary DNS:
ns3.hostsave.com
207.150.198.114

4. You can run a "WhoIs" query to check the status of your domain name information.

5. Make sure that your homepage is in the folder named "web".

ANY SUGGESTION? I'M STUCK!! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS

Can you change the permissions?

Are you absolutely sure the dir you uploaded your files to is the docroot for your site. If you're not being prompted for login credentials then that sounds like the URL is resolving to a directory with no index file and server indexing disabled.
