The spec. glosses over one important part of HTML comments. It's the double dash that makes the comment. You can mix comments and non-comments in one tag. At least you are supposed to, browser implimentation is spotty at best. The important thing is to keep in mind that you ought not to do something like:

<!------------------------------------------->

That toggles the comment on and off and on and off... If you want a nice eye catching divider use instead:
