i was wondering why i am getting error messages when i try and open any javascript? i was able to open them before but recently i can't. i don't know much about computers so i am lost and frustrated when i receive these messages. for example javascript:; appears at the bottom left instead of something like http:// or something else and i am unable to open this links. please help

Your post was a bit confusing. I'm not sure what you mean by "open javascript" do you mean to view .js files or clicking links that call javascript functions, like where it says [check message lenth] at the bottom of these forms?

If it's the second then "javascript:;" means nothing, it says that a js fuction is to be called but then says nothing about which function.

ok let me explain this way....one the bottom left hand side of me screen there is a....(i call it a message center? i don't know what it is called) it tells me when things are downloading, done, or what the actual address is the the link i clicked on, etc. well when javascript comes up then the web address i can't not open it. it brings me to an error page. this may sound confusing and if it does i am sorry. like i said i don't know much about computers. but thanks for taking time to help

It's called a status bar.
Before I can offer a better response you must awnser me questons three: What do you mean by when "javascript comes up"? What browser are you using? Are there any particular sites that this occurs on?

lol...ok thanks for correcting me.

1) in the status bar the word javascript shows up before the actual web address. ex. javascript:;(http:// )

2) i am using internet explorer

3) it occurs on almost every site i go on

i hope this helps..if not oh well but thanks

kmdrto_04, If that happens on most sites you visit then you may have a virus/spyware/other nasties. I suggest you go to http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe and download Hijackthis. Run it, choose the 'do a system scan and save a logfile' and either post your logfile on the VirtualDr forums (http://discussions.virtualdr.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=71) or pm it to me.

Yeh, what Dave said.

The forums that Dave linked to will give you the best response for your hijackthis log and will probably have someone or other who knows how to fix it.

Also, I wouldn't recomend using Internet Explorer, it is lacking in protection from spyware and viruses. It also doesn't follow w3 (http://w3.org) standards and really doesn't have many features, personaly I use Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) but there are quite a lot of alternatives.
