Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but I wasn't sure what other catagory to post it in.

Anyways..

I want to learn how to be able to update my "news" section of my site without having to do everything manually, except for typing the text. I think the correct term may be 'dynamic'

For example, Http://www.csnation.net

Their news section is updated by different people, and I think all they have to do is open up some program with a multiline text box, they just type in what they want to say, hit submit, and it automatically generates the html or whatever and adds it to the main news page. Right?

I want to be able to update my site in this way, but I have no idea where to begin. I am completely clueless as to what I need to know or what i need to have to be able to accomplish this.

I really would like to learn, so I was wondering... could someone just point me in the right direction. Just let me know what I need to know to be able to do this. I want to go out and buy some books to help me out, but I'm not even sure which ones to buy.

I don't even know enough, to know what I don't know... heh, if that makes any sense. So any help is appreciated.

Yes, I understand what you're trying to say ... you want something like a blog. Do you want to write one for yourself, or do you want a premade one? Look around:

http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/News_Publishing/index.html

or perhaps in one of the other sections

Yeah, I think that's it. I'd like to learn how to write my own, but I think for now I'll try out some of these from the link that you gave me. Try and get a feel for 'em..

Thank you very much :D I really appreciate your help

cuda, does your web host support any server side languages? (asp, asp.net, php, cgi, jsp, cold fusion)

ASP PHP CGI Perl SSI

I'm hosted by Http://www.000k3.com if you go there, they've got a list of everything.

I installed PHP-Nuke in my directory, and I've been messing with it a little bit. It's a bit more complex than what I need though, all I want is just the ability to update my news dynamically. So I'm gonna look around for something more simple/basic. Anyone know of any specific ones to direct me to?

Thanks :)

Well the whole concept is very basic. But for just a blog I reccomend xblog lite, made by pyro of this forum: http://www.infinitywebdesign.com/software/xbloglite/
