That's just inflammatory and irritating. Do you have an alternative (besides not using js at all)? This *is* a JavaScript forum, and "mr foo" asked a "legitimate" JavaScript question. There is no HTML way of doing such things. As to the propriety of such actions, I do not particularly appreciate such things ("it's *my* window, and I *want* it this size!"), and as I have explained in the past, I have taken to surfing "sans JS" because of such practices myself. This practice is nowhere near as aggrivating as "no-right-click" or "flash". justron 12-04-2002, 01:54 PM Allow the author the freedom to display his or her work the way they want it to be..if it offends you..Simply leave. Or " eschew thier web site " If you want to cruise the autobon in a gocart...Have at it pal Charles 12-04-2002, 03:47 PM There's an economic fallacy, the name of which I cannot remember, that goes something like this: It might seem that if I sand up in the movie theater I would get a better view, but that forces everybody to start standing and pretty soon nobody has a decent view. If web authors wouldn't go about messing with user's windows then at least a few of us could turn our JavaScript back on. The other week I was enjoying a pleasant day of Hoover-Ball (http://www.hooverassociation.org/hooverball.htm) and picnicing when somebody showed up with two dogs. Immediately one shat upon the field of play and the other shat in the midst of the food and right next to the grill. The problem with you re-arranging my windows is that once I've left your site I'm still left with the unsightly results. spufi 12-04-2002, 09:41 PM Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it. I'm with Charles in the fact that people shouldn't be using ways to only piss off the people that they are trying to attract to their site. This simply does not fly is the business world, and leaves a site looking amateurish. Let's get at the heart of the issue and that's why would you want to do this in the first place? Ryan 12-04-2002, 10:01 PM i whole-heartedly disagree with the anti-javascript issue. javascript has tons of great features that can really enhance a site. disabling it just because you want your window to look one way or another seems childish. the tradeoff doesn't seem worth it to me, besides, some windows look much much better when all there is is the title bar and the page. for example, when viewing a movie or a java applet. and what do you mean by flash is aggrevating? what in the world is wrong with flash? i do agree with the aggrevativeness of no-right-click, however. webdeveloper.com
