cd rom help? plz look

when i put in a cd the computer acts like it isnt even there, and when i open my computer the d or e drive isnt there, and those both are my cd drives. what i think is wrong is that my drivers have been uninstalled somehow, and i cant get em back because my restore disk is a cd rom.. someone put some input on this plz cus my computer is screwed

First off check the ide connection with the motherboard.

You should go to device manager and look for it (my computer (right click properties) -> hardware -> device manager -> dvd cdrom -> see if it is there.

Why would you do this: I am running 3 hard drives but using 2. One of them is not ntfs, it is linux, so windows cant use it, but I can see it frome device manager. So it will see all of your drives even if windows can't use them for some add reason.

one issue might be some bad ide controls or something.

i checked and there not there. what do i have to do if there not in the device manager?

Turn off your comp. Unplug eide cables of cddrive from motherboard. Turn on comp. Let windows load. Shutdown. Put cables back in. Turn comp on. Windows should automatically upload drivers and all. Tell us if it doesn't work.
