hmm, simple & interesting design, reminds me of one of the last csszengarden design, cuz of that brush...dont remember the name.

hmm hmm, maybe a more developed menu?
like ur list style images, but the text looks a bit...i dunno...it shouldn be smaller as the list images, and , put them up a bit?

thanks for your review, I did use some ideas from csszengarden but the brush wasn't one of the ideas. I did go and check out the site again and did see the site you are talking about.

Visually stimulating and clean cut. Maybe some kind of different color of text on the a:hover? And look at the bullets, something smaller and let obtrusive.

I'm personally not a fan of Times New Romans. It's everywhere. You want this to be unique. How about something more fun? I like to make my links underlined still and then the hover, take it away and change the color of the text. Like the border that is added to pictures when you hover. How did you get the "clear look for the picture? Photoshop?

Not too bad.

Could you take a look at mine? www2.onu.edu/~j-smith.6

thanks gumbystation for the feedback,

Yeah I think that I will be changing the font style and maybe change a couple other minor things to try and make it unique, which is next to impossible these days. I checked out your site and it is a nice and clean design. I would maybe add a bit more color just to add to the visual appeal - there are so many light grey/blue designs out there now a days, but I like the site and it works. The transparent box was done in photoshop and laid out with CSS.

You have one error in you CSS. Line:
569 Context : #spacer

Invalid number : margino is not a margin-right value : 3px o 3px 0

You know, you might want to put a background at the bottom of the page kind of like what you have done for the top, just a lot smaller and more subtle. Just a thought, spice it up a tad more.

it might be my browser...but do u have blue borders around ur images?(eric meyers book image for example)
its might just be my connection that is slow like a turtle right now...and doesnt wanna load the full css...hmm...

tmcraig

thanks for all the great feedback, I am in the process of making some changes after some little things were pointed out in this forum and some others to make the site more user friendly and have extra return value. I will be switching the site to a CMS system (TextPattern) and fixing the navigation from the right side to a top navigation scheme. I will post the new site once I have everything completed and updating for your feedback.

Thanks

Looks very nice. You only have one validation problem with your XHTML http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A//www.markedupmedia.com/

Curious, do you do back-end web development (e.g., PHP, Perl, ASP/.NET, JSP, etc. programming)? Or just designing/hosting?

Site now validates as before it was throwing an error because no comments had been placed which was leaving an empty unorder list - now that comments are left everything is validating.

Wicked nice looking site, tmcraig. I love it. Please do validate your other pages, though. Specifcally the Portfolio and Contact pages, plus all of the Recent Articles and Comments pages.
