Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Can you review my site.... tmcraig 01-16-2005, 07:47 AM I have just finished my site recentlyand it could use some opinions. http://www.markedupmedia.com Thanks, tmcraig LiLcRaZyFuZzY 01-18-2005, 05:50 PM hmm, simple & interesting design, reminds me of one of the last csszengarden design, cuz of that brush...dont remember the name. hmm hmm, maybe a more developed menu? like ur list style images, but the text looks a bit...i dunno...it shouldn be smaller as the list images, and , put them up a bit? tmcraig 01-23-2005, 07:13 AM thanks for your review, I did use some ideas from csszengarden but the brush wasn't one of the ideas. I did go and check out the site again and did see the site you are talking about. LiLcRaZyFuZzY 01-23-2005, 01:22 PM the garden...great things over there..;) tmcraig 01-27-2005, 06:09 PM yeah I love looking at the interesting designs over at the garden. gumbystation 01-27-2005, 11:43 PM Visually stimulating and clean cut. Maybe some kind of different color of text on the a:hover? And look at the bullets, something smaller and let obtrusive. gumbystation 01-27-2005, 11:58 PM I'm personally not a fan of Times New Romans. It's everywhere. You want this to be unique. How about something more fun? I like to make my links underlined still and then the hover, take it away and change the color of the text. Like the border that is added to pictures when you hover. How did you get the "clear look for the picture? Photoshop? Not too bad. Could you take a look at mine? www2.onu.edu/~j-smith.6 tmcraig 01-28-2005, 03:25 PM thanks gumbystation for the feedback, Yeah I think that I will be changing the font style and maybe change a couple other minor things to try and make it unique, which is next to impossible these days. I checked out your site and it is a nice and clean design. I would maybe add a bit more color just to add to the visual appeal - there are so many light grey/blue designs out there now a days, but I like the site and it works. The transparent box was done in photoshop and laid out with CSS. soccer362001 01-28-2005, 06:10 PM You have one error in you CSS. Line: 569 Context : #spacer Invalid number : margino is not a margin-right value : 3px o 3px 0 Jona 01-28-2005, 07:00 PM Just wanted to say it's one heck of a piece of work -- a superlative job, my friend!!! I am jealous. ;) Jupac 01-28-2005, 11:56 PM Well done :D Good job man :D I love it tmcraig 01-29-2005, 05:51 AM the margin error is a typo thats for noticing that, I'll fix it up. Thatnks for all the great comments. Jona 01-29-2005, 12:20 PM You know, you might want to put a background at the bottom of the page kind of like what you have done for the top, just a lot smaller and more subtle. Just a thought, spice it up a tad more. LiLcRaZyFuZzY 01-29-2005, 02:02 PM it might be my browser...but do u have blue borders around ur images?(eric meyers book image for example) its might just be my connection that is slow like a turtle right now...and doesnt wanna load the full css...hmm... tmcraig 01-31-2005, 11:06 AM yeah it might be your browser. They are not blue in the css. LiLcRaZyFuZzY 01-31-2005, 06:03 PM hmm, seems to be a problem with IE, did u test it ? tmcraig 01-31-2005, 07:04 PM Yeah, I'll double check it. Thanks for pointing it out. tmcraig 02-13-2005, 05:02 PM thanks for all the great feedback, I am in the process of making some changes after some little things were pointed out in this forum and some others to make the site more user friendly and have extra return value. I will be switching the site to a CMS system (TextPattern) and fixing the navigation from the right side to a top navigation scheme. I will post the new site once I have everything completed and updating for your feedback. Thanks tmcraig 02-18-2005, 09:23 AM Site has been redesign to create a better user experience. http://wwww.markedupmedia.com soccer362001 02-18-2005, 09:36 AM Looks very nice. You only have one validation problem with your XHTML http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A//www.markedupmedia.com/ gumbystation 02-18-2005, 10:03 AM Originally posted by tmcraig Site has been redesign to create a better user experience. http://wwww.markedupmedia.com The site isn't working..... soccer362001 02-18-2005, 10:31 AM Originally posted by gumbystation The site isn't working..... If you would copy and paste the URL and take out the extra w it would. tmcraig 02-18-2005, 11:02 AM sorry about the typo, it should be: http://www.markedupmedia.com Jona 02-18-2005, 12:09 PM Curious, do you do back-end web development (e.g., PHP, Perl, ASP/.NET, JSP, etc. programming)? Or just designing/hosting? Green-Beast 02-20-2005, 12:57 AM Wicked nice looking site, tmcraig. I love it. Please do validate your other pages, though. Specifcally the Portfolio and Contact pages, plus all of the Recent Articles and Comments pages. Mike tmcraig 02-22-2005, 04:56 PM Working through that vaildation as I switched my site over to a CMS. Will have all the bugs out soon. webdeveloper.com
