Is it really that big of a deal? Say I use a color like #755523, it won't show that EXACT color? It will show, #666633 which is the closet websafe color? I don't get it. A lot of people seem to make a big deal out of it.

I wouldn't worry about it, there are lots of combinations that won't look the same and it's usually not that much different looking.

It is only a big deal to those that wish to represet precise color depictions. In fact, if you use #755523, this will NOT be displayed as #666633 by ANY browser. ALL color-capable browsers will display the color as #755523. The "problem" is that different browsers may have a different idea of just how #755523 is to be rendered. The end-result won't be #666633, though. The reason the 00, 33, 66, 99, CC, and FF color codes were chosen as "websafe" colors is because almost all browsers almost always display these colors the same way.

I find the only time colors are really an issue is if I use a gif with colors to match since that might be slightly different and look ugly
