I have recently posted a web site to the Internet in which there are apparently a few problems with a couple of GIFs. Prior to posting, I viewed the pages using IE and Firefox and everything looked perfect. However, a friend of mine informed me that the GIFs appeared "very bitmapped on the web-site...they are very hard to read." She tells me that she is using IE on a mac, OS X operating system, version 10.2.8.
The GIFS have been saved using PhotoShop optimization with the lacing option. Any suggestions as to how I can remedy this problem for people like my friend? Thanks in advance.

Thanks LiLcRaZyFuZzY
Interesting that we seem to be using the same browser etc. and yet we see radically different images...and the image you see is a problem different from that which I originally posted.

The name up top 'nat POPE PhD CPCU ARM ChFC" is rather jagged. Looks like it needs a shave. :)
On Safari, IE/Mac, FF/Mac, Opera/Mac. Are those the gifs you were talking about?
Could you show the exact settings you used in photoshop?

Yes, the "nat POPE PhD CPCU ARM ChFC" GIF has been identified as a culprit, although the phot on the right has been saved in a similar manner and no one has mentioned problems with it. I don't have a Mac and so I can't see what others are seeing, but I take your word that the ones you mentioned all have trouble with the image.
The Photoshop settings for the GIF in question are the following under its FILE>SAVE FOR WEB option:
GIF
Selective
Diffusion
Transparency
No Transparency Dither
Interlaced
Colors 256
Dither 100%
Web Snap 0%

Dithering the transparency should smooth out the edges a lot. The reason you don't see it on the other picture is because there is no transparency in that picture. Make sure you do it from the original and not just try to re-save for web this picture. :)
Is there any reason the picture of the man is a gif? Save some bandwidth and make it a jpg.

I'll give it a try - thanks for the advice. Regarding the image of the man being saved as a GIF, the PhotoShop "Save for Web" menu option is making that choice (it originally was a jpg) as the "optimized option." I'll go back and check the properties of the image under both variations to see how big the files are.
Thanks again.

I just went and looked at the picture on the Home page, I use WinXP and IE6. It looks fine. May I suggest more Keywords and better meta tags? No offense, but ya a Beer?
Some people have their fonts and colors adjusted to their liking on their computer, so don't worry any if it is the way you want it.
They will have you jumping thru hoops if ya let em. IMHO
