using pictures as a map

I am doing a project for my software engineering class, and our project inludes creating a map for transit system. I was thinking about finding a picture of our campus and using it as a map for our project. Does Java have any classes that i can use?

It sounds like you're talking about an imagemap. That is HTML not java or javascript.

If you use Fireworks from Macromedia, it is really easy to put hotspots on your images. That is one of the ways that I do maps.
