Can anybody out these give me some guidence on how you are supposed to handle the the trademark and copyright notifications on a web site. Where they should be place and how many times they need to occur in you site (ie every page where the trademark is used or is a listing on your idex page sufficient ?

This is differnt than the placement of the little "tm" and "c"
that is placed next the name or logo.

These are the full discriptive information

Ie Ford is a TM of Ford Motor Company

Thanks for the help in advance

Michael

thank - I was aware that was how to handle the trademark on your own site or work

But

What I was looking for was how to handle the use of another companies name or brand name in side your site, where you mention or attribute that companies name or brand

Like if you used Ford or Microsoft name in some of your add material on the site.

Can you attribute the trademark or copytright on your index page or does it have to be on every page you use the brand or company name

I THINK (don't know for sure) that you just need to put a link to that site. Most sites will ask you if you want to advertise for them and if you do, then they'll give you the HTML code to put in your site to link to them.

And copyrights....somebody told me that if you have your own pics on your site and want them copyrighted that you needed to pay a small fee for that and that info was available through Yahoo search engine.

Not much help, but I hope some.

Oh I see. In that case, I think that you can just make sure you have a Legal Disclaimer, and on each time you mention the name you just put the TM or © or ® after it. Of course, you may want to email them about it first, unless it's a company name. But if it's content such as an image or logo, you'd probably want to email them about it. Just a suggestion.

If you took a picture or paid someone to do it for you and then you copyrighted it in your name threw the LOC, and I came along and took it off your site, do you think you would want others to know who it belonged to? Of course you would , especially if you were in buisness, you would certainly want your © 2003 Micheal next to your pictures/logos. The same goes with anything that belogns to someone who has sound legal documentation proving that they are the sole owners of this paticular item. For more on this I would look it up at: LibraryofCongress.gov

Hope I helped
