I got a new laptop for Christmas and my friend came over and downloaded limewire along with a ton of porn. now i have annoying pop-up ads of porn and i have ran both anti-spyware and anti-adware programs but it still comes up.i want to try to clear my memory of everything and reload all my software and start over. Is that a good dea or should do somthing else? and if i should delete or un-install all my soflware how do i do it?

Try going into the control panel and Add Remove Programs. Look to see if there is anything in there that you do not want, and unistall them.

go to download.com, and download the following programs:

AVG Antivirus
Ad-Aware SE Personel
Spybot- Search and Destroy
Super Utilities(15 day trial)

and if you want, i really don't like it, and it has a limited time,

Webroot Spy Sweeper

That should get it. If it is still there, then do this:

I wrote the manual to make your computer basically new. Follow the directions. Reply if you have problems.

Ad-aware SE is probably going to help you the most. Do you use limewire still? If so, destroy it. Most file-sharing software (Kazaa, Limewire, Bearshare) will clog up your system with adware. If you can't seem to get rid of it, and seeing as you just got the laptop and therefore it probably doesn't have anything you can't save on a disk, a format and re-install wouldn't hurt. You should consider it as your last option though.

Ad-Aware Pro/SE/newest version is a weak anti-spyware utility compared to Microsoft's new Antispyware software.

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

Ad-Aware found 0 objects.
Microsoft Antispyware found 70 objects.

Microsoft Antispyware also was stupid enough to delete the settings to my HTML editor the I absolutly love. Adaware SE is probably your best bet.

You deleted them yourself. You get to choose what you delete/repair. Blame yourself for deleting your own settings that you absolutely love. Hah. You deleted your own settings. :P

When I meant MS AS is powerful--it finds everything. Don't forget the ones who originally developed the software was by GIANT Software, whom was recently bought out by MS.
