Somebody help me with my chat room please

a couple days ago it was working fine, now whenever i click on my chatroom link it gives me this message:

WARNING! Create an empty directory /data and CHMOD it to 777!


Please help.

I think it wants you to create a directory called data and it wants the settings to be 777.

There is already a directory called date and the settings are at 777.

The directory is in the chat folder, do i have to put one somewhere else?

When I got to http://collectorplanet.com/forum/chat/data I get a forbidden message. Are you sure you have the settings right, or do you have it protected someother way?

I didn't do this myself, so i wouldn't know. I am just trying to fix it myself because it sounds like it is something simple.

I figured based on the message it gives, somebody here may have been through this before.
