Sorry were you after a cronological order of when they started.....

I thought you were after a ranking of best to 'not so best', which is what I posted???

Sorry, that wasn't really important. Just thought that it was Harvard the best uni there.

Thanks again for the list. Exactly what I wanted.

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/rankindex_brief.php This is a very good resource with some good information(ranked by program, etc). They will only list a few schools online for some categories, but I have the actual book thingy here. Feel free to ask me where schools stand and I can look it up for you.

Sort by: Rank
1. Harvard University (MA)
2. Princeton University (NJ)
3. Yale University (CT)
4. University of Pennsylvania
5. Duke University (NC)
6. Massachusetts Inst. of Technology
7. Stanford University (CA)
8. California Institute of Technology
9. Columbia University (NY)
10. Dartmouth College (NH)
11. Northwestern University (IL)
12. Washington University in St. Louis
13. Brown University (RI)
14. Cornell University (NY)
15. Johns Hopkins University (MD)
16. University of Chicago
17. Rice University (TX)
18. University of Notre Dame (IN)
19. Vanderbilt University (TN)
20. Emory University (GA)

The iv league are at the top, which is to be expected... why would you pay that kind of money if it is not the best school in the nation.

ps: As you can see harvard is #1 with the usnews & world report's ranking system.

second pc: I would like to dispute some thing's on jeff's list. I would put brown up there, I would not have wake forest in the top 20, and I would have harvard above cornell. Cornell is a great school, but I would never say it is better then harvard.

Nick may be correct .... in hindsight I think my list was advice for smart (overseas) people..... like Australians :D

Either way these lists are Subjective, and represent different companys findings..... However they are quite similar in many regards and should only serve as a rough guide

Thank you for the lists. Why I asked for the list is because I'd like to take a distance degree in Web Programming and Web Design.
We do not have many facilities around here and thought about having a foreign teaching. And from what I can see, americans are pretty good in this field.

You do not get a degee in webdesign from a 4 year school. You get that from a vocational school or something. If you go to a 4 year school get a degree in comp sci or computer engineering. You will be able to do much more in the computer feild and be more hireable. Website design is a packed industry to begin with.
