The specification is always the best place to get answers to most basic questions. If you want a "comprehensive tutorial," rather than a series of documents explaining the structure, purpose and form of HTML, try checking out W3Schools (http://www.w3schools.com/).

w3schools is quite good - very clear in explaining everything! :)
