Hi,
I wonder if there is a ideal way how to fast preload
set of (4-5) 40kb images , the preload time should not exceed 6 seconds.
I have used a DW MX default JS preload function but still wonder whether there is something more effective and faster?
Thank you
Robert

You can't script it to download them any faster. The only thing you can do is make the images smaller, or maybe just compress them more. The script can only handle them after they are downloaded... You still have to download the images. Or, you could get a faster internet connection. ;) To download five 40kb images in under 6 seconds you would have to be downloading at about 35kps... Which is MUCH faster than a 56k could do it.

Hmmm... Let's see... 40K Bytes is 320K bits, times 5 files is 1.6M bits, divided by 56K bit download speed for a dial-up, that would take 28.6 seconds.
I think you are being a bit unreasonable in your expectations.

when i used a dial-up (a million years ago im sure) my 56k was limited by my service provider's 40k limit (practical or artificial i dont know), and you can t expect dial-up to be cruising at top speed always (or usually). so i would make that download time even longer. one thing you can try to do is make it appear that they download faster, by using javascript to download the images ahead of when tey have to be displayed
