Hi friends,

I am new to web admin. I am a developer working on HTML and Jsp.

Now i have to take in charge of a website,the website is developed

using HTML.The website is online.I want to modify some HTML pages.The website owner gave me the address of the website, username and password.I dont know how to enter the html file locaton and modify the Html,please help me.

Do you mean that he/she gave you a password to login to the site or a password for ftp access or maybe a password for something like cpanel?

As i have to modify the HTML pages, It must be a ftp access username

and password. can you please explain using usename, password and

web address(not ip address) how to enter the location where the file

located and modify it.

You'll need an FTP client, SmartFTP (http://smartftp.com/) is good and free, it's pretty intutive and you'll probably figure it out quickly.

Hi i downloaded smartftp, now i can connect the site using FTP. I found

two directories there, one is public html and other iw WWW, in both places i saw the html pages and images, where exactly i have to copy

the files , please somt tell the instructions how to copy to the web

using smartftp.

If you right click on the file you'll get an option to download which works just like a "save as" dialouge.

If you right click on some empty space then you'll get an option to upload which works just like an "open" dialouge.

Hi Thank you for the information

but the problem is I can see two directories one www and another public html and in both directories i can see the same html and imaged, so where i have to copy exactly either in public html or www

If they have identical content then it's likely there the same folder, experiment a bit, see what happens.
