I saw the story on Cold Pizza this morning, totally shocking. But I'm in favor. He is not the snobby rich person that many rich people are. He donates so much of his money, and recently (Saturday) spoke of High school reform in the nation. I think he should be an idol.

I think we should have him start our hereditary royal family.

The uk is technically not a democracy really. It is a
'constitutional monarchy'. Meaning, like thuko said, they have a king who is a figure head and the a legislature w/ a prime minister.

What gates said to the high school was something like you have to work for your fortune. Do not expect to be instantly wealthy or have any respect when you enter the real world, all of that must be earned. Gates lacks some snobby qualities because he is a self made man.

03-02-2005, 10:25 PM
If Mr Gates would like to fund my education, I'd personally post pro-Microsoft banners all over the city and change my email to GatesLover@gmail.com :D :p But alas I've too much money for such support and not enough money for education.

We don't have to call him sir, because he's not british. But is he going to get a suit of armor with a built in computer and wireless internet? Windows XP - Mobile Armor Edition.

Bill Gates?

When they say Bill Gates everybody just think about MS operating system. But the effect of what Bill Gates did indirectly was far more greater than he did directly.

If it wasn't because of MS, we wouldn't have so many PCs around the world? Could a normal person set up a TV chanell and challenge a Dictator 10000 miles other side of the world?

Did we have so cheap telephone bills? -cheap telephone bills mean inexpensive distribution of information - ....

By the way, being monarchy does not mean "Not being democratic". The same as being Repulic does not mean "Being Democratic".

Actually, about what you said, yes, we would. If bill gates did no do what he did someone else would have. Keep in mind, he got to the top through plenty of huge windfalls. It is good that he has given so much to others though.

Jeff, lets settle this once and for all... google wars.

Your top 2 vs my top 2.
1.
"Yngwie malmsteen": 282,000
"Angus Young": 97,600
Yngwie wins.
2.
"Jason Becker": 41,700
"Zakk Wylde": 187,000
Zakk wins.

Okay, Yngwie is the best, Zakk is the second best.

I am speachless
but I don't know if it's because of

1) his really bushy mullett cut (his hair cut)
2) His ultra big nose
3) his skin tight pants (ewwwwwwww)
4) his angry looking persona
5) His wierd mid 80's guitar (there are 3 or 4.. he keeps changing)
6) his ultra fake hand switching....
7) the crapness of the song

how can you possibly suport such a statement, if Einstein hadn't of though of it people would only have come up with the lesser half of his great theories and indead we would still be strugleing to percive the concept of energy and mass being different states of the same thing.

Easily... because we would have made electron guns in another few years and observed relativity, we would have watched newtons laws fail when particles reach a high rate of speed. Think of newtons laws as an extension of relativity for low speeds. We might not have made an atomic bomb without Einstein and turned mass into energy, but we could have turned energy into mass.

We make anti matter all the time: positrons.

It can still hum a bit when you're not playing the guitar, right after you play a string.

I can't wait until I get my guitar. I have a pretty good growl going, I can sing along with some of my favorite songs. I am going to play some cob / orphaned land / norther / etc riffs and sign along. Maybe I can play some of their more simple things eventually.

What kind of guitar you going to get Peo? I got myself a beautiful Black Fender Stratocaster. Course I'm not playing your fancy metal songs with all that picking. Wether or not you're really a fan of the Ramones (which I am) you got to love them for their three cord songs. :D

PeOfEo

mine is gonna be a squire stratocaster. I got a surf board here that I am trading a friend for it. I have a friend who is a huge fan of the ramones, I am not a big fan or their sound though.

I've been playing for 17years or so now.... I used to use mainly Gibson equipment.... though I have used B.C.Rich and the odd Fender... one of my favorite studio guitars was a Fernandez...... these days I use a fender strat body with Gibson hardware (i broke the gibson comin off stage :( so used its pick-ups in an old strat I had lying around)
of couse since I chopped my pinky off with a chainsaw I dont play as well as I used to :( :(
I had heaps of Amps and Bins My fav was an old Valve Marshall 200w through Celestion bins... I used to couple it with an old fender twin reverb with a stereo unit to get this full-on sound..... I like Crate aswell but to a lesser degree..... I want another couple of old marshalls and a 'Brian Moore' Guitar They are cool(jack Owen Can't be wrong)... and I need another S.G. or two 68's would be nice

This thread has gone bye-bye. Some how we managed to go from Bill Gates to musical instruments. Those two things should never go together. :p

Anyway, how about you guys start a instruments thread or something to talk about this subject further. This thread is now closed. ;)
