I want to make a website involving a rating scheme. Basically, it would be a 10-point scale. I want people to be able to login and be able to rate things. Over time, the ratings would be averaged out. Unfortunately, I don't want to get into the specifics, because I think its a great idea. Here are the main elements that I want:
1) Login for users (hopefully automatic registration)
2) Search field
3) Rating system, maybe using radio buttons?
4) simple navigation menu
I've heard that I need some kind of server-side solution. Something to the effect of database (MySQL?). I'm throwing out things here. I know basic HTML, but it seems I'm a little over-my-head with this. Do I use Javascript? PHP? XHTML? I don't know. Any help would be much appreciated and I'll be checking back frequently if you need me to clarify.
I use Dreamweaver and photoshop. One more thing, who would be a good host?
