Hi! I am using an HPMX 70 computer with Windows ME. I "save as" name.html html document (*html.*htm,*htx. I opened the document with Internet Exployer and E C: My documents/name.htm came up.
I check the "save as" for this document and it = web page, complete (*htm,*html,* encoding Western European (windows) However, <HTML> at the very first and at the end is not being recognized. The HTML tags are showing up on the final printed document. Does Windows ME not support HTML???

"C:\My documents\name.htm came up."How did you want it to come up? You made it and opened it via IE Explorer, and what about it didn't work right? Please be more clear in your reply.

The HTML tags were showing in the browser window -- as a text file -- rather than being rendered by the browser.

Since WindowsME is the bastard child of Windows 2000 & Windows 98SE, basically the rough prototype of WindowsXP . . . Micro$oft did a great job a trying to lock down the OS. They made it kind of like driving with your hood welded shut. Make sure that under your "View" settings you can alter the file extentions. I have see a few times that you could name a file "sample.htm.txt" and think you've named it with the '.htm' extention but when really all you've done is add the '.htm' as part of the name; and windows still appends it as it see fit. You can also try naming it "sample.htm" [quotes included] that will tell the computer to appened no extention to it, in effect making the '.htm' the extention.
I'm sorry, but ME is the WORST OS EVER made. I would prefer 95 or 3.1 to ME. It's time to upgrade.
