The site I was working on has been pointless now that the place I am working at is closing now.
The site was almost finished too and that is what's making me depressed that people did not get to even see my great achievement.
They are closing because this is supposed to be a non profit organisation and since the government stoped the contract we have had to ask members to pay for their courses etc and the board has decided to close.
I think I would have done well if the site I was creating had finished and had put some ads on the site to draw income from Advertisers and I might have kept it going.
It was work for the dole, but the boss was very impressed with my work and was hoping to get a paid job out of it.
This is the site I had created: www.macleaybec.com.au
What do you guys think of my site?
The boss even loved most of my ideas that I had come up with too.
If anyone wants me to do their site, let me know.

That's a scary thing. Maybe you could still use the site as part of your portfolio.
Best of luck!

I wish I could, because I was experimenting with DIV's on the events page instead of having table layout, it looks horrible now. And now that I know PHP (I did not know PHP when I started), I was going to convert the events page to PHP from JavaScript, but did not get around to it.
But the rest of the site like the contacts page was finished. I had put in JavaScript to check for invalid entries, and PHP pages to back it up for when user had JavaScript turned off.
I had almost finished the PHP pages for the members page, and had planed on having cookies so that when members come back to the members page they go straight in without login in. I was also going to do the same with contact page.
One thing I am proud of on is that the site loads like a bullet from a gun, with one exception where the contact us section sends the email after the correspondence_confirm.php is submitted.

which page?
the events page needed fixing as I origanaly designed it for Microsoft 2000 on the machine at work. then someone suggested on this forum to convert to MySQL, and the events page I had yet to do.
The missing database is the error that it is giving on the events database.

I am creating a database (Microsoft Access XP) for someone in town, and is for a bookstore. I had a plan to sell to other 2nd hand bookstores in Australia.
I was working on that before this work for the dole thing came up, and couldn't concentrate on two complex projects at once and decided to get the website out of the way so I could do the database.
When I was doing the database my mind keeps working on problems I am having sometimes even when I am asleap (I dream about it), and It is hard to go from working with visual basic at home and then go to work and think Javascript and PHP.
I was doing it for about 6 months before starting the work for the dole project.
For the past two work for the dole projects I hated but this time I told them "If you get me diging holes in the ground I am not going to do it" and they got me doing that website which I enjoyed.
The first one was restoring tracks in bush so that tourists can bushwalk on steps etc and I hated the heat and walking up and down the steep hill.
They got me to do another work for the dole, but I got a sprained ankle and couldn't do it. It was funny when I rang them up and told them (at the last minute) the guy was angry that almost every one had rang up saying they got coarses or an injury of some nature.
the second one was better, but it was not by much, cleaning floors, cleaning gym equipment, basicly equivilent to a slaves work. managed to get out of that with a computer course.

My browser said that it would take a "friggin" long time to handle some "long-ass" script. When I said to continue, the browser froze. It happened multiple times. Or maybe its just me...
BTW: I am using firefox 1.01 on windows xp home.

That is most unfortunate. Hopefully you will find the right job for yourself. And no, porn star is not included!

By the way, I have come up with an idea to override the boards decision: have a petition with the members to ask them if they want the BEC to close.
