Does anyone know how to set the MySQL service to manual start in Windows XP? I set it to Manual in services and it keeps starting automatically anyway, like an unruly child. thx

You may need to go into Control Panel -> System -> Hardware Profiles, copy the default profile, and change the setting in the new copy. Then at boot time you'd select which profile to use.
