Hi...

I have a question.

Very often I find threads which interest me, but which do not pertain to my current projects (and/or mind-set) at the time.
So I bookmark them for later reading/swiping of code.

How long do the threads remain accessable on this forum?

Unfortunately I've bookmarked so darn may of these threads that I really need to just clean-up one of the days (so how many days do I have to get that all done? lol).

And on another side note:
I really wish that people would post descriptive subjects for their threads.
All of these "need help", "easy question", "can anyone help?" subjects are brutally difficult to identify and are making me crazy(er).

I'd appreciate a response.
Thanks...

I wondered how long threads last too, but I still don't know the answer!

I'd agree with the descriptive subjects too, but unfortunately many of the non-descriptive ones are from new people who dive in, post once and are never seen again...

I suppose you could replace the (optional) in brackets after subject to (compulsory) or (please be as descriptive as possible).

But how many people would take any notice?

Dave

I wondered how long threads last too, but I still don't know the answer! Apparently it is top-secret Dave (no one will tell us. lol!)

And I love your new location description! That's really funny!

Maybe I should change mine...

New Jersey...fuggettaboutit!

or...

New Jersey... the Worlds best view of Manhattan... and we're still really p*issed that it's been altered!

or... I'm open to suggestions (especially whilst I wait for the answer to my question. grrrrrr. wink).

Does anybody actually read the Feedback forum?.........
H...e...l...l...o...!

feeling unsupported at the moment... (what is this... the U.N.?)...

I think that nedals has become my new "non-moderator" wing-man.
(notice the avatar change? who asked for that?)

... still no answer to the original question though.

feeling ignored...

But I was thinking of the one with the heavier frame. Well... unless you saved it... that one is gone forever (I tried to re-create it. Not close, huh? Sorry... I tried).

EDIT: "Ce moi!"? nedals... are you French?
Wing-man duties are immediately revoked (no cowards need apply!!!!!!)

And seriously... where is the answer to my original question?
grrrrr...
left out to dry...

English, actually.
Can I have my duties back :)
The inside dimensions are about right, just increase the border width. Why am I going on about this?

Why am I going on about this? I thought that you were serious about being my wing-man.
No prob... Pyro is always there for me (and he never speaks French!).

All work and no play makes khaki a dull girl...

(and if no one is available for "feedback" duties, then free it up and turn it into a PHP forum instead (...as my gift to my hero)

The search feature goes back one year so one would hope that they would store threads for at least a year. For your sake khaki, I would suggest cleaning out your bookmarks before a year passes. :)

Ah.... good to know that (thanks spufi ;) !).

And just for the record...

For my sake, I wish you would clean-out my bookmarks before the year is out (personally I'd rather just format my hard-drive and start all over from scratch. lol).

Ok, I just got word on this...

There is no exact length of time that the threads will last, but one to two years is a safe answer.

Ok...
So I still have either 27.4 GB more space for WebDeveloper.com bookmarks... or at least a year... before I really need to start to worry about any of this (lol).

Thanks for "the word" Pyro
(do you Moderate this forum too... or just helping out?)

Funnny,
Hey pyro does this mean when they created the datamodel, they did not even concieve that how long they will keep the threads in the DB?...

It sounds like I was in the designing eam..

lol...:D

I'm guessing what it means is that the database starts to purge itself when the database reaches a certain size (probably in GB)

I suppose I should jump in and help Pyro out a little here :-)

Lets say the size of a forum was to make a difference on how fast or slow it was running... We would use the Mass Move Feature of VB and create a separate section for the older threads.

The above example was all to common with UBB and other forum software’s. Right at teh moment I cannot recall the limit of VB. However I KNOW it's far superior to UBB.

Also I'm sure most of you fondly remember the old forum software this forum ran on.... those postings there are sadly lost due to DB conflicts that couldn’t be fixed in an economical fashion.
