Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : How about a MySQL or Database related Forum?

I was just wondering, I'm sure that a good portion of the "Guru" level members have a pretty solid understanding of databases and how to implement and troubleshoot.

I know I'd like to see an area devoted to that. I also know that there are plenty of forums devoted to this, but I particularly like the atmosphere here and am sure that it could provide quite a resource. .

Just thinking out loud :)

This has actually already been requested in the past. I don't think it went anywhere though. Personally, I would like to see a database forum. Although most database questions can fall under the language the user is using it with, I think that there is a need for a special database forum. Sometimes there are questions about databases in general such as "What is the MySQL code for adding an entry to the db?". I would personally like to see a database forum but I can live without it if it's not added. You're gonna need to convince the admins if you wanna see it added. I'm but a lowly moderator. My powers are weak and not developed high enough to battle a mystical admin. :p

Thanks for the response Jick,
I realize and have seen some SQL related stuff in the PHP forum. I also realize that most of the "web developing" uses of a db are going to be in conjunction with some sort of SSL, but just thought that an area devoted to db's would be good. That way you don't have to wade through all of the non db related posts in those language forums.

Oh well, such is life. . .

This isn't a big deal, and I understand if the admins don't see it as a need.

Yes, I remember posting about this before. The admins, however, weren't keen on it, and the thread was deleted. So, I get the distinct impression that for whatever reason, the admins do not want a database forum.

when they closed the thread, they mentioned a another database forum that you could ask your questions at, however the people in the database forum knows more about databases and nothing about web design.

If they want to help that forum expand (the only logical explanation for their actions) then why not just have a link on the main page like they do with the networking forum?

in this way they are not disadvantaging the other forum and they get traffic from this domain which increases their popularity and more people who knows web design as well.
