Gmail (https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=mail&t=e9855ab0-441a25a0-5b696d5e8f445244ca73&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fgmail.google.com%2Fgmail%2Fe-1-a1a09f844428f781-c9eeff6f7bba3b768b499f8485f507c59cdd0032&type=2) has finally been released to the public. I suppose this happened just recently. Although I suppose Google may have waited too long with this, I think overall GMail has been an incredible liking to the majority of its users.

You sure that isn't just a link from someone's invite? After all, the page you linked to says right on itWe're still working to make Gmail better, so for now, we're just inviting a small number at random. Looks like that's you!In addition, if you modify the query string from that link to delete t=... along with t's associated value you get a page that saysSorry, Gmail is in a limited test period. If you have not been invited to open a Gmail account, please sign up to be notified when important Gmail developments occur.Google's FAQ (http://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/about.html#signup) still says that Gmail is a limited test. And the home Gmail (http://gmail.google.com) page does not offer any way to create a new account.

And for those of you still trying to use up invites, try offering them away at http://isnoop.net/gmail/

Jeff, I haven't looked into the t variable. The link is right on the standard homepage, below the search bar.

What "standard homepage"? Can you link to it? I've looked at gmail.google.com and google.com and I don't see it anywhere.

The link was directly from http://google.com (not the Firefox page). However, as you say, the link no longer is there. Odd.
