Would like you all to look at the main page of my website at http://www.timsvault.com And let me know how it could be improved. am trying to use css but still a beginner at it. Also if anyone can tell me why a few of the links on the left have no underline effect when mouse over it and the rest do.

Hi there, all the links were underlined onMouseOver on my browser (Mozilla FireFox). There are a lot of links (as you well knkow) and they run far down the page with nothing on the right. Is there a way you'd like to compact the links, maybe put them in the main section in rows and columns, or do you want to keep them as they are?

woulde like to compact the links but one problem I have is my site can't use FrontPage extentions, I would like opions on options for a shorter menu.

Have you tried using a pull-down menu? They don't look as good as links, but it will definitely compact them. You could make one pull-down menu per section.

All the links were decorated onmouseover for me, with exception to the active link (Home). I'd stick to one green color and one yellowish color; the variations kill the look in my opinion. As far as the number of links, I've got no problem with that as I'm assuming you'll be providing more content so the page will looked more balanced when you're done making the site.
If you really do want to compact them though, I wouldn't use a pulldown, I would recommend cascading links instead. It would look good and function as you want.

Read the forum sticky. The links at the very top don't seem to be spaced equally. The logo/header needs work. Where is the button to submit the "Find it" textarea box?

I appreciate the responses. As far as the cascading link style that was mentioned I have no clue as how to go about implementing them. I am far from being a web site developer. I am more of a content person than a designer. Maybe a few people could offer a sample or two of either a better layout or look?

The links on the left of this page is an example of cascading links:

The very top of this page is another example:

like the look of this cascading menu at this link: http://javascript.internet.com/navigation/cascading-menu.html
but no clue on how to adjust or modify it to what i need. Also this menu doesn't require that FrontPage extensions be enable right ? And how does it work in non IE browsers ?

I wouldn't use that one per se. Though I'm pretty sure it wouldn't need Front Page (yuk) extensions. In fact that site's cacsading menu links was given purely as a visual example. A lot of the stuff on that site is garbage from what I've seen. I try to avoid using JavaScript altogether since my thing is accessible sites. I try to stick with CSS and PHP. In that past I have done them using Macromedia's Fireworks (http://www.macromedia.com/software/fireworks/) (for those menus and image hot spots). So You could try something like that. That uses image maps (all JS stuff).
I was going to show you an example but it was over 36,000 characters and 10,000 is max :(
Hope this gets you going in the direction you want.

Mike maybe you could come up with a template for me ? I can't design for anything..the current look is a combo of bought templates but not exactly what I need. Need a site that does not need FP extensions enable on my server.
