Hi there,

First time to the forum and having a real problem with my new website.

Want to use a Tab style navigation bar at the top of my website (similar to Amazon) but I can't seem to find any buttons that will allow me to customise the colour, shape, font etc of the tabs.

Have tried a few free button makers from Download.com, Tucows etc but they all seem to give you standard buttons which you can't fully customise.

Does anyone know of:

1. Any free buttons makers that would match my criteria
2. Any way I could make a button myself that would look good on my site
3. Any other solutions you can think of
4. (Last resort) Any button makers that I would have to pay for $$$ that do tabs that you could recommend as being good. (There are so many out there, I'm getting confused!!!)

Any and all help is very, very appreciated.

Thanks

A.

Please avoid cross posting.

Your best bet would be to make then from scratch by yourself, you could do something simple like Amazons buttons in MS Paint if you liked.
I'd advise that you make a blank button and use it as the background for your link text.

Tried that already but it doesn't look good enough to use.

Can anyone else give me some help? :o

I've attached a file that took me about a minute but I think looks rather cool.
Although it might not go with your site design.

I'm showing my lack of knowledge here but how did you do that.

My colours are Red-255, Green-122, Blue-31 but I can't get it to look anywhere near that. What did you use, and how did you manage that?

I did that using the GIMP (http://gimp.org), it's a great program but takes some getting used to.
That tab was a simple case of selecting the area that I wanted and expermenting with filters and stuff.

I'm guessing from your orange that you wouldn't find a rusty affect, so give this attachemnt a go.

If you have photoshop, there are a ton of great actions and styles posted here, free for the downloading. It will ask you to register before you download, but it is well worth the extra minute.

But you don't even need to have Photoshop. Just play with it. The main things you need are time and patience! No real problem if you have those. ;) :D

If you're designing a whole website then you're probably going to need graphics for several parts on the page. I suggest you get the photoshop trial version and toy around with it. You have 30 days to create your website :D.
