I have been researching on making my own external hard drive and I think I am making it harder than what it is. However, I was hoping to to get some advice on the procedure of making one, the best products to get, and any extra things I should look for. I prefer to make one in a 2.5", but if you have suggestions or comments about the bigger sizes don't hesitate.

THANKS

the data transfer bridge. Although it also would be cool to know how to build my own hard drive too but for now i will just stick with the data transfer and make that my next project.

How are you looking to do it?
USB2.0, Firewire, SCSI?
I think you can just buy external caddies for most of those transfer methods.

I would like SCSI, but for right now I will go with USB2.0 w/ firewire. For a 2.5" is there specific size enclosure case that I should look for to make it easier to fit the adapter and wires? And what's a good Adapter brand? I have researched that the best firewire is Oxford 911 firewire chipset.
