Im redesigning my site and was wondering whether someone could have a look at it?
Its still in the making, but it will look generally like that. (The navigation bar will have buttons with different pages on) I was mostly interesting in what you think of the design (i think its a bit boring, ideas are welcome) and about the content.
The address is www.tims15.devisland.net/Home1.htm
Thanks very much!

Tim,
1. The navigation buttons appear to have an amber light at the end. I assume (dangerous, I know) the light will come on when the visitor hovers and/or clicks. Correct? I like it.
2. The blue text on the lighter blue background almost "glows" for me. While I like the darker blue very much, I think it's a bit much on the blue background.
3. I really like the simplicity of the overall page though.
Just my $.02 worth.
Be sure to give us another look when its all done.

The buttons aren't going to glow at the end, but the text on the button will have a glow behind it on mouseover.
Do you think the text colour/background colour should change?
Do you think the simplicity is too simple?! I thought it was a bit boring, but have been looking at it loads while designing.
Thanks very much for looking!!

As I said, Tim, I like the colors themselves, but they seem too "vibrant" in that combinationto me. I'd change them ... maybe a paler, even white background. (But remember, this is just ONE person's opinion.)
I really like the simplicity. Some may look for the "Wow!", the "WhizzBang" ... but let's face reality ... are you building the page to show off your web building or to do business? Simplicity lasts. Wow! comes and goes.

Thanks for that, I'll probably go for a lighter background!
Hi -
My only wishes are that you change the link color - that electric, default blue is sort of a no-no - and clean-up the header text/animation, which is very scruffy-looking. Is there any way to place the ad in another location so it's not the very first thing we see? [You might also consider a blurb about what the site is, what we'll find here, etc.]
Also - please change your intended font...for more information, see -

Have fun in your learning,

Thanks, I'll change the link colour, but what did you mean about the header? I might put the ad at the bottom, or possibly to the side.
I used comic sans beause I wanted a more informal font, which would be shown on most browsers. Do you know of a similar fun/informal font?
Though it may sometimes seem otherwise, "informal" is not a synonym for "unprofessional." You won't look formal if you use most fonts. Formal fonts are usually script fonts or Ye Olde English fonts. If your site looks formal (and it doesn't) then you would have a different story entirely. With the design you have, Comic Sans is probably the worst font you could choose. In fact, 99% of the time Comic Sans is the worst font you could choose. I'd highly recommend Arial, Verdana, or Georgia. These are widely available fonts, and none of them are very formal.

I tried all three fonts you said, and think verdana looks the best, though I still think it looks a bit boring! I've put all three on the page, what do you think?
Oh, you know what Trebuchet MS is also widely available and seems to fit fine. You might try that one out, too. It seems you already use it in a box at the bottom of your page, so why not keep the whole page basically that same font?

Thanks... I like trebuchet the most, so will probably use that
