Closing a window

Hi, on a photo page there is a bunch of thumbnails. I am looking to click on one of these thumbs and a new window opens resized to 400x400 with no browser buttons or scroll bar. When anywhere on the screen is clicked the new (400x400) window closes and the photo page is still there.

How would I approach this? Thanks,

I think you're looking for Javascript, not Java.
