I have 3 possible designs for a site (I know which I prefer but I'd be interested to see if my choice matches others (or are the all horrible).
1. Design 1 (http://www.thesamproject.org/index.asp)
2. Design 2 (http://www.thesamproject.org/index1.asp)
3. Design 3 (http://www.thesamproject.org/index2.asp)
Note, they haven't been validated yet and the links go nowhere (if they click at all).
Thanks

Hi,
I like 2 and 3. Design 1 seems to be too bold and maybe contrast a little too much for
my tastes. Now 2 isn't too complex, but it offers a very nice look, and color layout.
Design 3 almost seems too simple.
So, I'd have to say "2."
EDIT: Oh, and design 1 displays funny in firefox, the body paragraph.
Just my opinion!
Good luck!

Yeah, design 1 needs a little work. I'm gonna agree with webgovernor on this one. 2

well I don't like the last one. The point coming down seems like it will be a pain to format your content around.
The 2nd seems kinda floaty and doesn't project a corporate/business feel the way 1 and 3 do.
I would have to go with design 1 as the best of them.

I like the second best, although it needs colors that create a little more sense of weight. I think one is very good, but the it seems a little too playful and I'm not sure how much of that is the colors and how much is the blocks and rectangles. Still it could be perfect for an artistic business.

1 didn't appeal to me much as a uni/corporate site. And considering the business and information that the final site will be conveying, 1 struck me as not completely appropriate. I believe it's the colour scheme and buttons / layout / design.
For me, while 2 was good, I didn't like the colour scheme, but it presented a clean face that gives an impression of clarity and focus.
3 was my favourite, but I didn't like the downward point. How would you align text there, or there wouldn't be any? Perhaps if the point was upwards / removed?
I would go for either 2 or 3, depending on modifications.
Take care,
Snitch.

Thanks everyone, that's great fedback.
I quite liked design 1 the best but I can see that it'll need some work. The colours are a problem as I was attempting to match the colours used in the printed literature - the problem being that the logo was designed subsequent to this and uses a different blue. Trying to mesh these is a problem.
I thought something stong and corperate would be in order but I guess I'll need to make it a little less arty without making it dull.
I like the others too but I've seen a lot of sites these days that go for the pale, light look but I agree they're too light.
Thanks again.

Hi, i like too the design 2 and 3, the design needs more adjustment
In my opinion, and it looks like this is the general conclusion, design 2 is by far the best, and design 1 is by far the worst.

I'm just going to agree with pretty much what has been said, but say I do think number 1 has got some potential. It will be easier to quickly work out a final version for 2 and 3.

I think number one has too many contrasting colours, it's like "BOO! Where do I look..?? Whats going on here...?"
2 is nice, I instantly look at the logo, then right to the body text, good flow. though still not my fav.
3 is my fav. I agree with some of the comments on the dip in the horizontal bar. This one looks very professional and the logo really stands out. Although it's a little boring, but once there is more content I think it will look better, expecially if you have a little more formatting in the body, giving the headers the blue colour maybe... Plus I like the location of the sign in area here too.

Ok ok, I give in. design 1, which was my preference is no longer. Sometimes it's tough to give up your personal choice but I'm coming round to everyone's thinking. TBH I find it difficult to disagree with any of the comments made.
Well that's sorted then. Now to build the darn site...
Thanks all..
