Please take a look at this site. It is my first web page and I am getting ready to do 2 more so I would like some ideas of what is good and what I should change.

I think you have generally done a damned good job there, it is a damn sight better than my first website in those dark days of publisher and frontpage.

I almost can not fault it, however right at the very bottom you have the links: "About Us Directions Site" with no form of separation, and not marked up as a list.

Also, your image alt tags are not particularly descriptive, links are untitled, and there are no accesskeys - but I should not imagine you are shooting for a huge degree of accessibility here anyway.

As an afterthought, place that pretty header image as the background to a DIV so that is dissapears when CSS is disabled. As a layout image it should appear in the style sheet rather than the html.

At first glance it looks great. Scrolling down I think you ought to reconsider this image (http://www.campchetek.org/images/summerstaff.gif).
The big image at the top is marked up as an image, which isn't really apropriate: you're alt text doesn't give all the infomation that the image does (thus, accessability issues) and it wont be great for search engines. Try image replacement (http://wdhaven.com/article/12/bir) so that you can keep all of that infomation in there.

Edit: for a first site, it's pretty impressive.

Why .org?

The name should be available .com

Just curious.

Good job! This is your first site and you wrote it in XHTML Strict and used PHP? Unbelievable.
