Ok, here is the request.... I need the homepage of my site reviewed. Just the homepage right now. Once I get the final layout for the hompage set, the rest will fall into place (thank you CSS and PHP) .

I am using a different style sheet for the homepage than I am the rest of the site.

The "missionaries" page will also use a different style sheet. So, I need in all, whatever info you want to give me on how to make it present better. Post any problems that are there. So far I havent seen any.

The only thing I think could be fixed is the "position: absolute" The site doesn't display right in 640x480 I don't think.

Ok done with my rambling. Critique away... PS homepage only. The rest of the site is a wreck. lol

EDIT: I forgot to give the address <--stupid me http://www.firstbaptistbrighton.com/

Read the forum sticky. Yes, the home page is a mess validation wise. :) I would highly recommend not using a counter. Have you cross browser tested the site? Please kill the image of the state that is doing nothing for your look and sucking a lovely 37.13KB for each hit your site takes. I don't want to know what a person with dial up will feel about that image. Add to this, your gray border image thing is also a resource hog, and can be duplicated via plain old CSS. I would get rid of the blue background and start over in terms of colors. Blue, green and grey may work together, but not in those tones, and you really need to have some/a lot of white in there. Add color on a as needed basis. Considering it is a church web site, the need is likely very little.

Yeah, i did the validation earlier and came out with 84(i think) errors. Yes i did cross browser test and they all came out fine (IE, Mozilla, Safari, Slim Browser are the ons tested so far) . Considering It's a low traffic site with 2GB bandwidth im not worried about 37kb<-- but if it detracts from the site i dont want it there. I am not a color coordinator but nobody that is good at that stuff is willing to help me. :o I guess thankfully for them, they aren't paying me.

Im trying to learn as I go with css. Before I got ahold of it, ever page had this huge table for the navigational menu.... It has improved a bunch and with the suggestions above I hope to improve more.

I'd download free some stock images to liven up and create more of a theme to your site. I'm dial-up and wasn't bothered too much by the time it took to load the map--it was the purposelessness of the map itself that bugged me. On the other hand, I am from Wisconsin and have been bred to think of that particular map as nothing but. ;)

And, I don't get a very spiritual sense from the color scheme. Could just be me.

I bet that everyone is as impressed with your use of CSS as I was.

Even if you have the resources for the hosting, it still will take dial up users a longer time to fully view your site.
