Hi All,
I designing a site, but would like some honest critique, if it stinks say so now and I can correct it before I get any further.

The first section comments is complete to give you an idea of the layout and under mammals there is a page for elephants. The rest is still all over the place on my hard drive, on paper in my mind.

I've tried to keep it simple and hopefully cross browser compatible even down to those who have Macs I hope should see some form of navigation.

TIA

IMO ...

Your center column, main text area is too wide. How about breaking it up into two columns? Or just narrowing the page.

And speaking of the page, how does it look at lower resolution? I didn't try it, but I'm betting it loads with a horrific horizontal scroll bar.

Also, the colors, while a pleasing combination, get boring after a while. Maybe more color in your dropdowns? Maybe some contrasting images?

And your header ... I would rather see it a bit shorter than to see it "repeat" itself.

Other than that, I think you did a very good job of organizing.

... one last thing ...

Before you go public, check, double-check, and then TRIPLE-check your text for grammer, syntax and outright contradiction. There are some glaring examples but I won't point them out unless you ask.

Thanks for that, some interesting points.
The middle section - unfortunately the pages already completed have a lot of text and no images. I think the elephant page with images on it looks better and this is how the majority of pages will be more images less text.

Lower Resolution unless you view on 640 or less there are no problems, scrollbars only appear on the elephants page at 640 and that could be corrected by putting smaller pictures in.

I agree about the dropdown the colours aren't quite right.

Thanks for your time.

Hi,
I tend to forget that once the pages are uploaded they are public and I should check grammar spelling before uploading, not as the final job before publicising the site.

As much of the information on those pages is not mine and American based I should have checked thouroughly before cut/pasting.

Thanks again.

This is just my opinion and I generally refrain from criticizing unless its a good critique, but since it provoked such a strong reaction from me I thought it was worth telling you.

I HATE the way the navigation makes itself jump and resize to show the submenus.

Please try something like this maybe:

7-10 words per line is a good amount.

Thanks Ian I was aware of a list apart and there menus I did want a css one and created one using their instructions for someone else. I hate flyout menus
but I will look for an alternative.

Thanks

you could get in trouble with the particular panda image and its composition being on your home page. The WWF (World Wildlife Federation) would say that you are infringing on their logo and confusing viewers. Why not use a cheetah, or a whooping crane, or a tree frog... something else.
