Hi there, I currently have a normal HTML web-page running on my ISP's standard Unix server. What I want to do is incorporate a streaming DJ mix of say, 1/2 hour with controls (start/stop etc) which starts when you enter the page, but to enable the user to have a choice of 2 different mixes.
I have seen a site with the exact function I want to replicate (www.mickmesa.co.uk) but, it looks like the main page is ASP (it has a ".asp" extension rather than an ".htm") What I don't understand is - why ASP ?
Given that I use Dreamweaver/Flash MX to put my pages together currently, I'm not sure I understand why I would have to move to an ASP server to get this function to work, is it because I want to specify a choice of mix ?
If this is the case then could I incorporate one generic streaming mix onto my existing page (and consequently negate the need to change servers and learn ASP :-) using Flash Player ?
Lastly, my understanding is that moving to an ASP server would actually help with the actual streaming, as the server does most of the work - is this true ? does bandwidth not matter ?? I would have thought it does regardless, but I can't seem to find any resources which tell me the answer!
If someone could help to point me in the right direction, or even a decent site which tells me how to do the technical stuff involved with building audio streaming into an ASP page I would be really, really grateful....!
