OK, slightly curious question, I admit! :) Do forum owners make any money? Adsense may not even cover the cost of running the server. So how do they make money? Anyone can shed some light on this? :confused:

Depends greatly on how much traffic the site gets and how savvy the owners are. Large forums, like all large Web Sites, make money from advertising.

I doubt the forums makers will be rolling in money, but then I also doubt that they are picking up money of the street to support themselves.

Well jupitermedia is a big company and they are the owners of tons of sites and they make tons of revenue off of ads. These forums are also probably fairly profitable for them.

I don't really get exactly how traffic can bring in revenue... wouldn't more traffic need more bandwidth, which actually COSTS money?

We host all our own sites, which is more cost efficient than paying for ready-made hosting.

I think if your forum have good content and many active users.
You will make many money by ads or sell links.
I have a freind who have a forum and make life by it.

hosting a forum isn't as expensive as say a video website... most of the media on a forum is text which is pretty efficient

Google adsense can pay easily a dollar a click. This site's alexa ranking is 7,402 and I think that they get a lot of clicks. Hosting a forum does not need that much bandwith in the first place.
