maybe this is more work than is necessary, but i was browsing through the Mod/Super Mod/Admin/Banned list and noticed that a vast majority of the banned members have the "send a private message" button right next to their name. should we get rid of that, for silliness's sake, or would that be too much work?

Not worth the effort. Sending banned folks a PM will have no effect since they can't login to read them.

Aren't you contradicting yourself? If it has no effect, all the more-so to get rid of the Send PM button -- cas' it's a totally useless feature in the case of banned members and it would also save lots of people the time of writting up a whole long PM to send to them. But if it requires too much effort to change, I understand.
